memorial day red poppies

MEMORIAL DAY.

Today we sit back and remember the heroes who fell in the line of duty. To those of you  anywhere on the Globe, who are remembering some one they loved, cherished and admired, we send you Love and light

Memorial Day has been a special time for remembering since 1868  when it was declared an official day of Remembrance in the United States of America.

Moina Michael  wrote her poem of remembrance.

''  IN FLANDERS FIELDS'

WE CHERISH TOO, THE POPPY RED,
THAT GROWS ON FIELDS WHERE VALOR LED,
IT SEEMS TO SIGNAL TO THE SKIES,
THAT BLOOD OF HEROES, NEVER DIES..

Moina Michael started a custom that people wear a red poppy on this day and it has become a symbol  of  remembering the fallen heroes throughout the world..
